He developed a fascination for art as a fresher. In his senior year he left his high school. Rodriguez joined Broward Community College in the year 2003, where he sought an associate's degree in Science with a major in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT Paramedic). He further went on to receive a second associate's degree in arts with a major in nursing education, which he accomplished in 2008.
While studying at Broward Community College, he took part in a lot of activities. As part of his education, he participated in a "Intro to Photography" workshop conducted by visual artist Teresa Diehl, and this changed his life completely. He was later elected as the president of the Broward College’s Film and Broadcasting Club. Rodriguez graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Film & Video and a minor in Photography. When he was studying at the university, Rodriquez made a couple of short films, which he then presented at film festivals. His photography was also displayed in galleries, and his poetry published in a number of literary journals.

While serving as a paramedic on television show sets, he was called upon to perform the role of a paramedic on two occasions.
